AKA Men is our specialist service that supports men who want to take a more active role in parenting. The services we provide for men are support for fathers that are adjusting to co-parenting after separation, divorce, and additional caring roles such as caring for an elderly relative. We provide parenting support for men that want to improve or “fine-tune” their parenting skills, so we look at positive behaviour management strategies, understanding your child with an additional need, such as autism, or learning new ways to communicate with your ever-growing and opinionated teenager and much more.
Becoming a new father might feel overwhelmed at first. Some Fathers are just as good as mothers at recognising and responding to the needs of their newborns. You will as be able to care for older children.
Science has confirmed that dads care for their children in ways that only dad do as dad’s tend to parent in a different way from their partner’s ie allowing their child/ren to take more risks. This means that your child learns to adapting to your different parenting styles helps your baby learn social skills and manage risk /challenges better.
