#MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK 10-16 May 2021

This year’s theme for mental health awareness week is #Nature. The week’s aim is to provide the much need and valuable opportunity to talk openly about all aspects of mental health, with a specific focus on providing help and advice for those in need.

I think you will agree that most of us started the year 2021 with high hopes but for some of us, this year hasn’t quite been the beginning of the year we dreamt of. With the Sarah Everard tragic murder, Numerous accounts of unprovoked knife crime, Richard Okorogheye’s body being found and George Floyds trial stirring up several buried emotions. This has led to me posing the question of when is the right time to let go and heal from some of these emotions and try to Move on.

Over the past few months, it would have been hard not to be triggered by the constant headlines that enter our conscious and subconscious minds through traditional media and Social media. Even though I have a strict boundary in relation to “My Negative news intake” I was shocked by just how much news was entering my social media feeds on a daily basis.  But has this led to a nation that has unwittingly fallen victim to hypervigilance, vicarious trauma and or even PTSD and as a result are you experiencing burnout and Compassion fatigue? If so, please feel free to download the NHS resources below and or contact your GP.
