AKA Men Making a difference : Ezra Ben- Yisrael

Ezra is a focused and determined individual who has settled in his heart to be part of the solution. He is the father of two and has been happily married since the second of February 2002. His passion and desire is ignited by empowering other and unlocking insight. 

Ezra is a resourceful and composed individual who is flexible in his approach and able to adapt to any working environment with confidence. he demonstrates enthusiasm in all his work, and thrives on new challenges. Ezra said “A key strength of mine is my ability to inspire others.”

 Ezra has over a decade of leadership experience leading, coaching, mentoring, influencing and developing teams, and over 4 years of managing services within the criminal justice system supporting service users around substance misuse and offending in 1-2-1 and group work setting.

Over the years while working within the criminal justice sector, Ezra supported multiple clients who have experienced trauma whether it be through 1-2-1 key work sessions or through therapeutic psychosocial group-based interventions. 

Ezra also volunteered as an Assessment, Care, Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) Assessor, which meant when someone had self-harmed or intended to commit suicide, he would be called to assess them and work within a multi-agency team to care plan appropriate interventions to support them. 

 Ezra has over 5 years’ experience of this type of risk assessment and crisis intervention work for those vulnerable clients, who often had serious mental health issues or may be leaving prison soon with no provisions in place, setting up community-based support or sign posting service users to outreach teams.

Ezra has shown great leadership and project management skills through managing multiple projects and successfully achieved an Approved Provider Standards (APS) accreditation with the Mentoring Befriending Foundation (July 2014). While leading on the Peer Mentoring Scheme, Ezra co-ordinated and project managed 7 rounds of the Mentoring Skills Qualification (MSQ) which saw 36 Peer Supporters complete and gain a qualification in mentoring and 4 rounds of the Life Skills Qualification which saw 24 service users gain a level 2 NVQ in Life Skills.

 Ezra has demonstrated innovation, business development and project management by designing a 10 session Relapse Prevention Programme, securing funding, implementing and running a community-based project for a period of six months. This programme covered topics such as cycle of change, lapse and Relapse, coping strategies, thoughts and mindsets, triggers and cravings, decision making, emotions and feelings, recovery and burnout, high risk situations and behaviours and actions.

 Ezra is driven to learn and showed this by volunteering in the European Companionship in Education, training by travel (ECEtt)programme in Portugal for 2 weeks where he worked within a Therapeutic Community and various community settings (July/August 2014). Ezra then brought back best practices, which he implemented into his service.

Ezra have a great track record of designing, planning and delivering training packages and workshops to organisations and partnership agencies over the past decade on a variety of topics. He received the Trainer Of The Year Award in 2016 from the Head of Learning & Development for his outstanding performance. 

 Ezra had always received great feedback from individuals who attend his bespoke training workshops and was often encouraged to set up his own training company. In November 2018 Ezra decided to follow his passion and dream, and took a leap of faith in setting up Edifying Answers, which is a training consultancy. Ezra’s vision is simple: Unlocking insight through our transformational workshops.

 Edifying Answers uses a unique methodology which enables us to deliver bespoke and specialist workshops. This tool I.N.S.I.G.H.T is the threat that runs through all of our workshops and sets out the sevens objectives that we execute through all of our exclusive training. I.N.S.I.G.H.T stands for:

 Edifying Answers delivers a variety of bespoke training which covers two specialist areas:

 Substance Awareness Workshops – These include Substance Awareness, Rethink Your Drinking, Motivational Interviewing, Exploring Addictions, Key Working & Motivating Clients, Facilitation Core Skills, Crack Awareness and Spice Awareness.

 Empowerment Workshops – These include DISC Workplace (What is your personality), Resilience & Burnout, Know Your Why(Purpose), Networking with Purpose, Leadership Development, Self-Care & Wellbeing, Managing Stress, Effective Team Working, Positive Thinking and the Building Blocks for Wellbeing.
